I would like to start by saying thank you for your overwhelming support over the last three weeks. we are so proud of all our children whether they are at school or home. They have needed time to adjust to these new changes and routines and change isn't easy for any of us. It has been lovely to hear from you all in our catch-up calls to home learners. We do miss the children and are so very proud of the way they have embraced this new way of working. Thank you for your support and positive feedback over the last few weeks. Our IT skills are rapidly developing and we would like to share with you our improved offer. Each year group may take a slightly different approach to this depending upon the children's ages. The work that the children are doing at home will mirror what the children in school are doing and is in line with the governments expectations.
We will continue to drop off paper packs of work to you fortnightly as feedback told us this was your preferred option. It also reduces time that children spend on screens. In the pack will be a suggested timetable to support you . All children in Y1-6 have their own email login for Microsoft teams. Teams can be accessed through safari, edge or chrome browsers. we have found that internet explorer doesn't always work as successfully. Teachers will post a daily video for the children explaining the days work. There will also be some explanation/teaching input videos to support learning. This may be your child's teacher as part of the daily video, it might be an additional video from them or it could be a link to another video such as the White Rose or National Oak academy. Please watch the videos - this is the nearest we can get to putting a teacher in your house and will support children's understanding and help them keep up with their learning and not fall behind. it will also hopefully reduce the need for parent input and understanding! There will be a link to foundation videos on the website. Children also have logins for Reading Eggs and in Y2-6 for TT Rockstars. The weekly timetables with links to videos will also be put on the home learning tab of the website. Children will receive a broad and balanced curriculum and over the week will cover all the subjects that they would in school. We will not use live lessons, all sessions will be recorded as we understand that families need to access work at a time that suits them.
Teachers will let you know which work needs to be completed and sent back to school. this can be done through teams or by sending a photo of the work to the class email. Teachers will mark all work sent in and will give feedback via teams. If you have any issues then please use the class emails to communicate with teachers. Teachers will respond to emails twice a week. As you can imagine our teachers workload has massively increased and to do this daily would be unmanageable. Teachers will call children to see how they are getting on every three weeks. if children appear to not be engaging then this will be more frequent.
We do understand how difficult home learning is, motivating children to do school work whilst trying to work from home yourselves. If you are struggling then teachers will try and support you. If it is overwhelming then contact us, we are only trying to help and we don't want to put you under further pressure.
If any families are still struggling with hardware or do not have a Wi-Fi connection then please call the school office. We do have a small amount of devices left that we can loan to you.
Please continue to stay safe at home and we hope to see you back in school very soon.
