Big Splash

Active Nottingham, of Nottingham City Council, will be hosting a reading to launch this book on Monday 16 May 2022 at Harvey Hadden Sports Village. A press release has been issued so there may be local press in attendance.

Can We Splash? is a book about children’s swimming and follows Mo, his sister Yas and the fun they had with their Dad on a swimming trip to a Nottingham leisure centre.

Here is a brief outline of the day:

We will have two classes of children from two different primary schools to attend for a reading of Can We Splash? by Councilor Mellen

  • In total there will be approx. 60 children from the two primary schools
  • Possible questions from local press after the reading
  • The children will then be offered a free 45-minute session of ‘splash’ fun and games in the pool
  • Promotional photos/videos will be taken throughout as part of the launch but in particular, during the reading/swim session
  • Before leaving, the children will receive a copy of the Can We Splash? book, a bookmark and some stickers

The children will be leaving school at approximately 10am and walking down to Harvey Hadden and will return in time for normal collection.

Please can you make sure your child brings a packed lunch including a bottle of water, unless you have already pre ordered one from the school office. The children will need to carry their own lunch bag all day so a rucksack would be ideal. The children will also need a towel and swimming costume or trunks.

Consent for photos

As this will be a promotion event, we will need authorisation from you to take photos. Please find attached a consent form for you to complete and return to school on Monday 16th May.
