Chairman's Cup

Preliminary Round v Rosslyn: We kicked off our cup campaign with a tight game against Rosslyn Park. Rosslyn took an early two goal advantage, before Melbury pulled one back just before half time. The second half saw a quick equaliser from Melbury, before Rosslyn retook the lead with only a few minutes left. A few outstanding saves from the Melbury goalkeeper and a last minute equaliser saw the match go to penalties. Both teams missed their first penalties, before both scoring their next. A Rosslyn miss meant a goal from Melbury would see us progress. A shot against the bar sent it to sudden death. A Rosslyn miss was followed by a Melbury goal - which meant Melbury won the shootout 2-1.

A huge well done to the boys who, in their first game of the season, came back from a number of different set backs and fought well against a good Rosslyn team. The game was played in a good spirit with both sets of players being a credit to their schools.

Up next in the cup came Portland. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Portland were unable to play the fixture so we progressed to the next round!

Into the quarter finals and we were due to meet a strong Southwark side. Sadly, this time we were unable to complete the fixture so we had to go out of the cup.
