Class 5 – Year 5
This half term, Class5 are investigating the topic of ‘Healthy Living’ and are basing the enquiry work (music, science, history) around this topic. To support your child, you could help them research on the internet or look for some library books. We are reading the book "The Astounding Broccoli Boy in literacy. All literacy work will be based on this modern classic for children and we will also be linking all of our enquiry work to this book where appropriate.
PE will be Wednesday (cricket) and Friday (striking games). Please make sure your child has outdoor trainers and summery clothes because we will be outside as much as possible weather permitting. It is helpful if you send PE kit each Monday and leave it in school all week.
There will be a piece of Maths and Literacy homework each Friday . This will usually consist of maths practice, Spelling, grammar and punctuation practice and the learning of times tables. Please ensure this homework is completed and returned after the weekend.
We would really like the children to read every day or at the very least 3 times a week, either independently or to an adult, and we will be monitoring reading diaries and rewarding the children with prizes. Please support your child with this as they cannot do it without your help! We would like reading books and reading diaries to be in school every day so that adults in school can also hear them read.
